Announcement: February 17, 2012:
Dear Club Members,
I am thrilled to announce that we have hired Tim and Laura Krausz as the new managers for the 2012 season. Thanks go to Dorothy Andreas Tuel for all her hard work in identifying the new managers and closing the deal. She put hours of hard work into the task. Several Board Members and I met with Tim and Laura and we all think that they will be the perfect choice for our Club.
Some of you will remember Tim and Laura as they managed the Club for three consecutive years in the 1970s. They live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, currently residing in Easton. Laura teaches Pre-K in Talbot County Public Schools. Tim is currently retired from the automotive business after 20 years with BMW. They have 2 sons, Louis and Daniel, who live in Georgetown and Baltimore. Their interests include sports, music and travel.
We also welcome Thomas Harvey as our new dinghy  operator. He will also mow the lawn this season. He is currently a Junior at Northern High School, and a member of the JROTC. Thomas is an after-school mentor, a member of  SADD, and CPR certified. He enjoys swimming, snowmobiling, and riding horses.
In other news we are very happy with the new format of a brunch on May 6, 2012 for our opening meeting at Will O' the Wisp. Everyone will receive an invitation along with the two day Club opening and Opening Meeting announcement. Our Social Calendar looks wonderful and will  keep us all very busy. Along with social activities we will have a schedule of sailing clinics set up by Joni and Ray and some special events to keep us current on Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County. A mild winter, so far, has blessed the roads but in spite of the weather, Wisp has managed to keep the skiers very happy.

Take care,
 Carole Perez

Announcement: January 17, 2012:
Dear Club Members,
As previously announced we will have our Club Opening/Dock Push on Saturday, May 5 with a luncheon provided afterwards at the Club. However, the date for the Pre-Season Meeting has been changed to Sunday, May 6 at 11:30 a.m. We are moving this event to Sunday in order not to conflict with the Garrett County Community Band Concert on Saturday evening, May 5. The Board has made this decision not only to accommodate our many Club members who are part of the Band but also those Club members who may wish to attend the concert. Another consideration is the fact that those members who have worked hard at the Club Opening/Dock Push will be tired after their participation that morning and will therefore not have to rush and get ready for a meeting and dinner that same evening. The Pre-Season Meeting will still be held at the Will O' the Wisp. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a brunch. Will O' the Wisp is setting up the specifics but with this format the meal will be considerably less costly and we will be providing children under 12 with a half-price option for the brunch.
We think that this change is a win-win for everyone and we look forward to a large turnout to start the 75th year at DCLSA.

Here's to great sailing,
Carole

Announcement: January 5, 2012:
 Dear Club Members,
We will have the Club Opening/Dock Push on May 5, 2012, an early start to a great summer of sailing and fun. The Club work  and  dock work will begin at 9 a.m. with a lunch served by  members at the Club. Remember that Turkey Neck Road clean up will  also be held on that  day at 8:00 am. John and Liz Guy will coordinate that work.  Then get into your evening mode. The Annual Meeting will be at 5 p.m. at the Will'O The Wisp, followed by cocktails and a dinner buffet. A more formal invitation will follow with the menu and cost of that event. Plan to be  there, meet new members, hear about the Club, our summer plans and all of the  other news to move us forward into the summer of 2012, our 75th Year as a  sailing club. You will hear about our summer social schedule and the  Yearbooks will be available.

Members with young children should contact Eric and Gayle von Eckartsberg by  email at
gayleve@gmail.com to  volunteer to monitor the Childrens' Room over the summer for at least one  week. Help keep the children and the room in order.

Thanks,
Carole
